Galiano Conservancy Association

The Galiano Conservancy has been providing outdoor education programs since 2001.  Groups and classes visit Galiano Island for one day field trips and multi-day camping excursions.  Through our programs, students are given basic ecological knowledge and engaged in an array of projects that may include active restoration, local food security at our food forest and garden site, geocache and navigation and an introduction to backpacking and hiking.  Some of our favourite activities are highlighted in the resources section of this website.

Recently our organization has established the Galiano Learning Centre, which is situated on 188 acres with 2km of coastline, that offers a facility and campsite area for classes and groups.  The Centre has expanded our existing programming to include a holistic view of sustainability.

The Galiano Conservancy Association is a grass roots organization that was founded in 1989 as one of the first community-based land trusts in BC. Our primary purpose is to preserve, protect and enhance the quality of the human and natural environment, and we actively do so through land acquisition, ecological restoration and environmental education programs.
